mapping publishing: Recommending an NFDI-wide mapping registry #13

This issue is associated with the charter epic #7.

What mapping publication aspect(s) does this issue address?

When mappings have been created, either by our WG or by individual consortia, they should be made available in a FAIR way, to ensure their reuse and collaborative curation. Similar to terminology services as registries and look-up services for ontologies and other controlled vocabularies, there should be a registry to index all the mappings which are being used within NFDI.

What further steps are needed to be taken or discussed by/in our WG regarding this issue?

  1. [ ] define requirements for the format and metadata of mappings that are to be indexed in such a mapping registry
  2. [ ] collaborate with the Terminology Service Working Group on how to implement the requirements

An outcome from the TS4NFDI workshop in April 2024 was to cooperate more concretely with the EOSC/FAIR Impact people working on the same topic. Nick Juty could thus be a good candidate to invite for one or more sessions to work on this topic.
