Improve styling and background

The white-and-black theme is getting a little old for me, so I think it's time to upgrade the styling:

• [ ] add background image
• [x] style the code mirror editors
• [ ] perhaps a different font(s)?
• [x] style the hints better (with <code> tags)
• [ ] etc.
