Comments:

Like it – very brief and to the point.

Page 2: can you put the “Arthur” and “Prima” pictures with brief summary on the right half of the page instead of all the prior slide details. The #1 thing to reiterate here is our target personas — what voice are we going to use, and how are we architecting the nav and website.

Page 3: Can you add dates into the circles and remove the branding highlight (don’t want to go down a rabbit trail on that one)

Page 4 – 6, I think you start going off track on these pages — these great for LeeAnn and me to understand but not for the exec team.

Can you review my suggested slide flow and provide feedback as to what you think works and what doesn’t? I’ve added additional comments in blue. Again, the goal isn’t to create work for any of us, just copy/paste from old decks/images we’ve already seen and used:

Eric’s rough draft

  1. One page overview of how we got here [done, I think you’ve got this on page 2]
  2. Timelines and approach to hit the timelines [add dates to page 3 and you’ve got this]
  3. Personas: need to cater to both Prima and Arthur (I think this could be copy/paste from this deck, but I think you have a better one with pictures of Arthur and Prima) [you could add this to page 2 and keep it simple]
  4. Targets: SMB, Asset Lite, eCommerce and Channel — need to explain how the website structure and content will be geared toward these targets [I think you’ve got a slide on this, but if not, I can help create today — I want to reinforce that we “get” who we’re targeting and we’re building the website with the target market in mind]
  5. Navigation: how it’s structured to meet #2 and #3 above [we really need to show this now — this is the crux of the meeting]
    • Solutions: meant for Prima
    • Products: meant for Arthur
    • Why Hostway: tell our story — ties to brand and strategy
    • Search: important as part of a simplified nav
  6. Solutions wire frame [really need to get buy-in on the solutions wires frame and the product wire frame]
  7. Products wire frame: goal is to enable all products to feel e-commercy (even if it’s really just a lead gen into Salesforce)
  8. Header / Footer summary
  9. Migration plans: don’t mess up SEO or “transactional” stuff that’s working today
  10. Q&A
  11. Backup slide: hardware / software configuration (working with Randy J., Wordpress approach, caching vs. full CDN)

I agree with Eric. We need to communicate at the 50 – 100k level and 4 – 6 are diving too much into the details from a marketing perspective. If we focus on the new structure and how we’ll deliver from a persona and navigation perspective, we’ll be golden.

  1. I think current page 8 should become page 3 (with actual date ranges, not just time span)
  2. Please reinforce on the Solutions and Product wireframes that each is meant for Arthur and Prima
  3. aren’t there supposed to be 3 logo options?

Thanks – leeann

Echoing LeeAnn,

  1. Yes, page 8 to page 3 (with dates inside the circles)
  2. I like the idea that I think you said that Solution pages typically cater to Prima, and Product pages for Arthur — would be worth highlighting that
  3. Yes, three logos, in the order that you sent them to me in the last deck — I’d put a HUGE divide between Website and Logo/color discussion — like a “Website Q&A” Slide, then a “title” slide announcing “Logo / Color Refresh” — then one page with our current logo and colors, then the half-step logo, then the “O” with triangle, then the “O” with the super-icon inside

Maybe remove your additional capabilities (#12) slide. Let’s just setup a meeting with nFusion, Brent, LeeAnn and me. That’s all my budget and it’s all 100% stuff we care about, so would be very happy to discuss this with you. We don’t need to involve the CEO.

Eric, can we do a quick call on this.

I'm getting concerned about the number of rounds of revisions we are being asked to do on a presentation that was out of our scope.

We can't put in dates until we have a firm answer on the logo and color pallet. I'm concerned that it seems we're putting that off until Thursday -- to me, it'd be better if we went over the new logo decision in the meeting; showing options turns this into a much longer meeting.

What's your schedule like tomorrow? Can I grab 15 minutes?

damengilland commented 8 years ago

Hey Eric & Leeann,

We made the requested changes, I'm concerned that but cutting out the remaining "Hostway Tasks" it makes it look like the only tasks left are the nFusion tasks. Content Creation, standing up / securing production servers, new email / social campaigns, etc. -- that's all stuff that's out of our current scope. Happy to chime in from time to time, if we can give advice, but I don't want to imply that the actual work isn't important to getting the site launched successfully.

So we're all working with a SoW that was created before any of us came on, and this splitting the work between us and the client is new to us; how do you want that shown here? Or do you want us to just list all the tasks and not say who is doing what?

What do you think if we added swim lanes in this page to show who is doing what?

Good by me — or we can voice track it if you don’t want to keep tweaking it (nobody reads slides anyway…).

Updated deck attached. Totally realize that Slide 3 is too much content for a slide, we'll talk to it at the "sprint-level" and refer back to it as needed during Q&A.

Good by me. No changes needed. Slide three is a bit dense, but you/we can voice track most of it.

Here is the deck we will present tomorrow.

We caught a few small typos, and moved the logos after the Q&A section about the build phase.

From Mason:

Looking forward to the conversation tomorrow. As a reminder based on our previous conversation we are not planning to present the logos. We’ve included the three logos at the end of the preso for your internal review with the board to debate and align with a direction.
