@hostwayeric,

The attached PDF contains some revised color pallet ideas. I know you have a strong opinion against too many colors, but I'm also including two images showing an example of how we would use the "accent color" -- note that it's not all over, many pages probably wouldn't even have it. Let us know your thoughts?

Thanks!

Eric,

We're still working on the revised logo with thicker stroke.

We wanted to show a range of options, but if you feel we're good on one or two of these we can limit the PDF to just those pages. Thanks man!

hostwayeric commented 8 years ago

Work your magic. Don’t limit this if you think you can show a range in quick fashion. Thanks.

hostwayeric commented 8 years ago

I like the options provided, maybe limit to three (not four) — and change the green accent (my hated third color) with a “fresh” orange color that echoes our current orange.

What I’m seeing in my head: favorite one is option 4 in the PDF, but change the green to orange — we’ll need a “call to action” color that stands out. In fact, I’d recommend that we pull that accent color from the official pallet as we’ll likely A/B test different colors, and you can get “unofficial” approval from LeeAnn on one accent color for the website to be used sparingly and only for CTA’s. (but I’d prefer it not be official — humor me…)

So bottom line is the “two blue” colors are 100% officially approved by me. Finalizing which logo we like better using those two colors — and we still need to “unofficially” finalize what accent color LeeAnn likes best.

And then need to see different weight options on the new “thin” logo (in the new “two blue” colors noted above).

Cool, we're on it. Will get all this over to you this afternoon.

Eric, here are the revisions. When can we expect a final decision on the fonts?

Thanks man!

LeeAnn to drive font agreement with Alan and Nikole ASAP (sorry, LeeAnn).

Also, why did you dump some “random” logo at the end of the deck. I though you were going to show me the “thin” logo, with two-blues only with a couple options of thicker weight? Not sure where the disconnect is. I don’t want a blue/orange logo. Blue/blue is what we’ve agreed to, just finalizing current logo vs. new logo (both blue/blue).

Would like to see the three “old” logos just like you’ve shown. But then three options of the “thin” logo. Normal (that Tony Savoy thought was too thin), then two more options of increasing weight — but all blue.

Close the loop with LeeAnn (real time if needed) on fonts. I trust her on that 100%.

LeeAnn, can you close the loop on logo with John and Tony, then socialize your joint decision with the broader group (assumptive close) with the group that was on the call yesterday? (ditto on the font, but I’d use Alan and Nikole to finalize the font)

Yes to all

Eric, apologies if I misread the request.

We'll have 3 slides of OLD logo, 3 slides of NEW thin logo (various weights but all blue), 3 slides for fonts.

hostwayeric commented 8 years ago

And just chat with LeeAnn to sync on a font touch-up before you send final version for approval.

Thanks!

leeannhickey commented 8 years ago

still don't like the fonts - let's try Source Sans Pro and Avenir

damengilland commented 8 years ago

Is Avenir a font that Hostway has already purchased? If so, can you send us the font files?

leeannhickey commented 8 years ago

no ... ok, please locate a free font that's close to Avenir

damengilland commented 8 years ago

We're still playing with font options. Here are the updated logos.

Hostway - Revised Color Pallet - 11 Mar 2016 v3.pdf

damengilland commented 8 years ago

Hey LeeAnn,

Here are the updated fonts, including an Avenir option and 2 similar options. Note that to use Avenir, Hostway will need to purchase the web rights -- it's like $50 per font weight.

Also, just to confirm, we are 100% on the "modern" pallet -- with the exception of the orange (#FF915A). We can use orange for now as a placeholder, but accent colors will not be in the official brand guide and may be A/B tested in the future. Correct?

If we're set on colors, the decision on the actual logo itself can be pushed out without impact.

Thanks!

leeannhickey commented 8 years ago

i'm good with Open Sans as the alternate font vs Avenir.

damengilland commented 8 years ago

And we're good to build the designs based on the "modern" pallet?

leeannhickey commented 8 years ago

yes, approved to build based upon the 'modern' pallet.

damengilland commented 8 years ago

Cool, marking this task as completed so we can get moving on the designs. Thanks!

leeannhickey commented 8 years ago

fonts are set ... Source Sans Pro and Open Sans

damengilland commented 8 years ago

Source Sans Pro for headers and Open Sans Light for the body fonts?

leeannhickey commented 8 years ago

source sans pro is primary and opens sans is back up

damengilland commented 8 years ago

Thanks!

leeannhickey commented 8 years ago

no worries
