Meeting Notes

Objective: To compile a list of LoRa and Xbee modules for purchase in order to test both technologies and decide which fits our needs the most.

Discussion Points

• Modules Requirement:

  • Minimum of one module for the Ground Control Station (GCS) and one per each vehicle (total 5).
  • If the bandwidth is too low, consider using separate channels for each vehicle instead of one channel for GCS and one per each vehicle. This is something to consider for the future based on our test results.

• Cost Considerations:

  • Xbee modules are more expensive than LoRa modules.
  • Hook-up accessories will be needed as well.

• ESP32 Modules:

  • Decided to purchase three ESP32 modules.

• FPV Video Feed:

  • Prepared a shopping list for transmitter, receiver, and camera.

• Testing Assignments:

  • Two team members will test LoRa modules.
  • One team member will test Xbee modules.
  • One team member will work on getting the video feed working.

• Data Hub:

  • GCS hardware is already available.
  • Miscellaneous elements might be needed later.

Next Task

• FPV Task:
  • Since no work can be done before getting the actual hardware, all team members are assigned to work on the FPV task:
  • Create an HTML page using the <video> tag to stream video from a USB/webcam.
  • Test how it works on both PC and phone on the same network.
