This caught me out as well.

[!] The platform of the target (iOS 7.0) is not compatible with MaterialKit (0.3.5) which has a minimum requirement of iOS 8.0.

Well, it's iOS 7+ compatible, only not when using cocoapods. Swift cocoapods always require iOS 8+
