Things I want to highlight, feel free to add stuff. [30 mins, 17th Dec]

• macroevolution used to be a paleo only field, then phylogenies invented, slowly a split between PCM folk using only living species, and paleo folk using only extinct species. Different people (Life vs Earth), different methods, different conferences. Want to bring these back together as we've lots to learn from each other. [my excuse for if I piss people off]. total evidence phylogenies.

• highlight dispRity package and other work being done by TG

• time slice is good if you don't have much data per slice

• share your bloody data. And not trees as TIF, PNG or PDF. ARGHHHHHH

• might highlight that all analyses are fully reproducible, just to be smug. Mention BES booklet http://bit.ly/BESGuidesTo

Other ideas to potentially highlight:

• Time slicing allows to define "modes" of evolution. Time binning is always punctuated: big assumption. Time slice can be relaxing this assumption which is good because it's by far not always the case (see @Hunt20112007 and @Hunt21042015 in the bib file).
• In some disparity analysis types (effect of extinction or competitive replacement), timing is the key and can have really different impacts or the results (or not...)

And on the sharing data stuff... That just revives some vivid pain of the PhD... When I had to deal with discrete character matrices in fecking jpeg (I can find back this paper if you want to do a point and shame)!
