LXPanel Menu Applet works and looks like XP https://github.com/gottcode/xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin[Whiskers] is light, almost if not zero extra dependecies. It can be customised to feel like the menu on Vista, 7, 8

It doesn't work in LXPanel, and that's not something that I can fix. These kind of stuff is pretty much desktop-dependant, and the one you refer to is specifically made to work fine on xfce4.
