Petition Parliament use social share links for each petition page. Interestingly, there are options for Facebook, email and Twitter on desktop but also Whatsapp on mobile.
@deanvipondNHS raised a good point that adding links to social platforms like Facebook and Twitter raises privacy concerns that would need fully investigating. For example, can and what data gets passed through to services if these social share links are used?
@tomdoughty shared a SASS example of some social share icon buttons
Start4Life use social links in the footer on all pages which link to Start4Life social accounts/profiles.
On many pages, such as the ready or not page, there are also social share links for that specific page to Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and Whatsapp. Mandy Whitty from the campaigns team said "we found from user testing parents often wanted to share our content with friends and family so we added whatsapp".
