What

A page to help people decide what content formats to try in addition to written English.

Giving use cases and things to consider about using:

• Video (including British Sign Language videos)
• Audio
• Photography, conditional images, self care images
• Easy Read
• Sequential images
• Anatomical illustrations
• Instructional illustrations or imagery
• Character illustrations
• Icons

Why

We want to give the same information to everybody. We also have an obligation to do so under the equality act, the accessible information standard and the BSL bill (currently going through parliament, Dec 2021).

Done When

I'll take this one forward. Pete has written up a piece on Choosing content formats in Confluence.

Next steps:

• [x] I'll break it up across several pages in Confluence.
• [ ] Rich to include images and/or links.
• [ ] Rich/multimedia team to clarify use of illustration versus photos, esp with skin tone - see Pete's comments on the Confluence page.
• We'll present it to next Style Council meeting and seek wider input/comment, and iterate - see #1680
• We'll prototype it, test it with content designers and iterate it before taking it back to Style Council for approval, hopefully - see #1679

This has been overtaken by other priorities for the March meeting. But I'll put it into the To Do column for April.
