Windows 10 Crashes With Randomly Colored Screens w/ RX 480 #1173

I'm running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit on a R5 1600 and an RX 480 w/ Latest Drivers (17.7.1 at time of writing). Every time I'm running GPU mining on any algorithm, after s few second of mining, Windows will crash with randomly colored screen. I've tried overclocking, underclocking, undervolting, and older drivers, but results stay the same with the crashes. I'm using NiceHash Miner 1.7.5.13 at time of writing.

My specific graphics card is the PowerColor RX 480 8GB Red Devil at an undervolted factory overclocked speed.

weird, just try to clean amd driver completely using the amd clean up utility. i have those colours also but it seems to be only because i have played with my gpu clocks but i have also seen it when there is a drastic gpu usage from idle to full throttle... not sure. I doubt your card is faulty maybe just check a demo utility and test your card....BUT try to wipe clean the amd stuff and reinstall.... i have a scenario where i have had to re-install my drivers 3 times after running the cleanup utility 2 times, really stupid i cant explain why

I've done clean uninstalls and clean reinstalls multiple times, didn't help. This problem also showed up in my last PC (with the exact same card)

i have endless shit with my CGminer it is fucking ridiculous it works then it does not all of a sudden, so yeh i also have shit it is crazy. I dont understand why SGminer abnd CGminer are such shit miners, they never print any error or warning message to tell u why it doesnt want to start mining, it just goes back to the prompt it is really ridiculous. I have tried to use -T and --verbose commands but it doesnt tell u fuck all, i really dont understand these miners. Claymore miner never does this shit. I hope u do come right with your christmas light screen, i hope for your sake its not your graphics card. Have you tried another pc if u have ? with the graphics card? Windows 7 and windows 10 ?

I haven't tried windows 7, but I am running Windows 10. And I have tried the card with another computer and a fresh install of Windows 10. This issue happens with all gpu miners that come bundled with NiceHash from what I can tell.

have u tried SGminer or CGminer alone on a pool ..... Then try Claymore miner for Zcash and Ethereum alone....

iamcubeman commented 7 years ago

I've tried Claymore by itself on both Ubuntu and Windows on my old machine with this card, and both crash after a second or mining. I'll try SGminer.

So it just decided to work at of the blue now. Everything seems to be running smoothly. One thing I did change is I lowered the clock speed of my Rx 480 to stock instead of factory overclocked.

It also seems that only running one monitor helps with stability.

same, I use rx560 and I believe this is sgminer's bug
