Webstats not matching GUI or CLI stats - not being compensated for hashing power #789

I am currently troubleshooting an issue with 2x RX 470s. I am running 17.2.1 drivers. I have tried using 16.11.5 drivers and had the same issue.

No matter what drivers I use or which benchmark I perform, I still get the same issue. My CLI and GUI will say I'm hashing at 40MH/s and should be making approximately $3+USD/day, but when I check webstats it fluctuates all over the place from 3 MH/s to <20MH/s. I thought maybe your webstats just took a long time to update properly, so I left it running for 12+ hours, but the total balance earned is still less than $1.

I tried contacting support, but all they did was tell me to use the older drivers which provided the same issue and made things worse. Sometimes the cards would drop from 40+ MH/s to 0 for a minute and then pop back up.

BTW check the profitability of a particular algo, it keeps changing all the time because it depends on the shares available (amount of work) which varies with the demand I guess: https://www.nicehash.com/?p=stats&a=20

It jumps a lot all the time so I think this is part of it.

@pzacheo We know that brother ;-) That's not the issue. It could be that the Brazilian connection is slightly more profitable cuz its newly established and not that much user connect via Brazil. But that's more a guess and theoretical. But there is no independent Brazilian market so there is no "real" evidence or cause why this host should be more profitable...

It's some slowdown of the web back end. Look at their job section. They will fix it but it takes some time. I guess they do a complete rewrite/overhaul like the website (first step) and then their v2 miner and after that the rest of the service/backend.

Having the same issue particularly with the DH algorithm. Is there any fix for these low accepted speed rates on the web site?. My stats are almost half of the mining hash rate.

pzacheo commented 7 years ago

Now the payrate is very low, probably it has to be by the low value of Ethereum vs Bitcoin: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ethereum/#charts

Every day you get paid less to mine, I hope this reverts soon.

ChriscomIT commented 7 years ago

AFAIK there is no fix because it has to be fixed on the NiceHash end. Sometimes it doesn't even show one of my GPUs randomly in web stats. After couple hours of mining, I check the web stats and it only shows 4 of my 3 devices. After reloading the web page its comes back up. This was around 6 times alone in the last week.

@pzacheo Yes, the pay rate for different algorithms is very low at the moment that's one issue but also the backend/web stats have some performance issues if you ask me and the 30 other ppl complaining.

As well I can't see how this is tied to the Ethereum value. Can you please explain that?

The pay rate was going down steadily the last month as you can see for instance for equihash (ZCash).

I deeply hope as well that the situation gets better in the future. but that depends on the NH marketplace. Right now there are not too many high bids that's why the pay rate is going down.

pzacheo commented 7 years ago

I have analyzed the charts and they seem to go up and down only with big swings in Ethereum price. Seems like when crowds are attracted by the increasing value it will pay more. It's all about attracting more people to the NH marketplace, only a big price jump can do that now.

I've seen the price increase in Bitcoin was huge and dramatic. Expected it to translate to ETH but no to avail. I think this is a difficult profession, I still have hopes but if you do the maths one month the next month numbers are no longer valid.
