NiceHash - GTX 1070 slower 10-20% than official reference. #965

Hi. I’m new to NiceHash. I had build a rig of: -Windows 10 Home -4 GTX 1070 8GB (Zotac Mini) -ASRock 970 Extreme4 Motherboard -8 GB DDR3 RAM -Athlon II X2 235e -EVGA 850 Watt 80+ Platinum. -WD HDD 160 GB

Everythin works well, rig is stable, GPU temperatures never over 80 degrees.

Example: 1 GTX 1070 should mine Equihash at 435 sol/s (official NiceHash spec) but mine work at 375 sol/s!

I have not used any overclocking software. Is it ok hash rate or is something wrong? If I need to overclock it how should I approach this problem having in mind that NiceHash constantly switches algorithms. Is there any guide for it?

This is something I noticed while mining when you are accessing your miner the hash-rate will decrease. What i always do to check status is to remote desktop using chrome rd and its always high for example i have 5x1080 TI and they always are around 3.2Ksol at 75% power limit. temp under 60celcius

I thought about it and MAYBE it's all about Ti vs non-Ti GTXs'... Ti's such as your come factory overclocked therefore they are selected from the best batch of GPUs. 1070 as a non-Ti requires some work and some luck (silicone lotery). I have in my other PC GTX 750 Ti and that one also meets or even exceeds some of Nicehash specifications. As of drivers it don't make so much difference in my case.

After playing with MSI Afterburner I was able to achive stable 420 sols/s. I could probably push it a bit more.

Hrant75 commented 7 years ago

how you did it (420 sols/s)? please share settings of Afterburn

BartekSz1 commented 7 years ago

Hrant75 I did +200 Mhz Core, +600 Mhz Memory, 85% Power. If you want a bit more sols you can increase the power all the way up to 112% but it doesn't increase sols so much. It mostly generates more heat and energy waste...

Can you try increasing memory furthermore to 700 or 750? also what kind of ram does it use? You can check with gpu-z

Hrant75 commented 7 years ago

@BartekSz1 thanks 410 sols max, GPU is Asus GTX1070, GPU ram is Micron

murathai commented 7 years ago

Hrant75

what is your OC settings? memory? core?

Hrant75 commented 7 years ago

OC win7 64bit, 2Gb RAM

Hrant75 commented 7 years ago

@murathai increasing memory to 700 or 750 decreasing sols and gives errors

murathai commented 7 years ago

It seems micron memory has limit in overclocking capability.

BartekSz1 commented 7 years ago

When I increased memory speed to 700 (I also have Micron) it worked faster but after a minute or so small dots appeared on a screen (artifacts) and then everything just died. So for me stable maximum @ reasonable power consumption is around 425 sols.

ASUS Dual 8GB Afterburner: image

Power: 70 Temp: 70 CC: +0 MC: +650 ~430 sols

I have the same problem as a topic starter. Palit 1070 super jetstream gives me around 390-400 sols with NM and zcash. But EWBF miner on flypool gives me 430-450 sols. Switched on flypool for 100% of time..

HI, Stopping selling hash Power?

GPU -100 same memory clock, same power = 30 MHs ETH solo

Sure - I believe mine is about 29.7 stable but my projected To-Bitcoin monthly rate is currently 0.021 on ethermine.org averaged over a week time and my projected income on nicehash is 0.025 per month so the question is what kind of currency do you want to hold :)
