Adding a GPU after the miner is configured bugs #108

Various bugs I noticed when you attempt to add a GPU after the miner has already been configured.

Background: I had four GPUs mining for a few days, no problems. Today I added a fifth one to the machine and noticed the following items below. They are all Nvidia 1080 TIs.

Bug 1: If NiceHash miner starts, before Windows has finished installing the video driver, the application will only show the four video cards and not the fifth one until I restart the application

Bug 2: After I restarted the application, the app detects 5 GPUs. However when I click start, it does not benchmark the newly added card and goes on to mining.

Bug 3: When the application begins mining, it only fires off four threads and does not use the newly added card. Without modifying the config, I do not see a way to add a card easily.

Workaround: Quit application, removed all configs, started the application, and re-set everything back up. Working.

Thanks again for all your hard work!

Bug 1 is not a bug. working as expected. Bug 2, also not a bug - clicking start starts the already configured devices Bug 3..... did you even toggle the gpu after benchmarking?

For number 3, I did not as I did not see an option for it

That is certainly a bug :o

@computeronix For #3 did you press 'Start' first before clicking the mining details? if so, stop mining and click 'Hardware details' (switches from 'Mining Details' to Hardware Details' when not mining). There you should be able to see all hardware you have installed, also will be able to select cards to mine (green light), and click on each gpu to see algos that need benchmarking.

computeronix commented 7 years ago

Correct that was after I started mining, the screen is now showing if I stop the mining.

Meaning, bug #3 seems to be good then

so bug #4 then is if you start mining, no hardware details are displayed

I experience the same problem with no hardware details showing every so often. Now when you start mining does this window pop up along with the mining window? if not try closing & restarting NHM (may take a couple tries, but it did eventually work with mining details) But only showed details if the Excavator window was showing as well. nhm2
