Take the transpose of the current display for the deep strings. I think this is what you originally had in mind. For the order on the string, i can think of three (at least) options. a) by depth, b) current default BV,TV,BH,TH, surf, c) grouped by pol, then depth: TV,BV,TH,BH, surf. I would vote for b - keeping polarization grouped is the way to go. I thought about c) as being a bit more natural with depth, but without cable delays etc, there is no benefit to the visualization of top over bottom in doing a "mental reconstruction". We are used to the ordering in b) so keep that.
