Skill roll option #159

How about the option for the site rolling the skills for you?

I was thinking about it a different way, but am thinking you can have it
as part of the match report. This way it is still easily done manually
and I can do server side rolls during my match reporting process.

No. Sorry. We're not adding this kind of fluff to obblm. We try to keep it as
simple
as possible. If we first open the gates for this kind of stuff then there are
hundreds of things alike that could be done.

I will need to add this to leegmgr for it to work well. I definitely
understand
your objections as it is not really meant for automation. I will have to add
it,
but don't really want to stray at all from the normal OBBLM installation, like
where
you added the hash to the normal installation of OBBLM. It just makes updating
that
much easier.

Would I just extend the match data class and add in a reporting for the skill
roll
and add that roll to a new column in the match data table?

But the main part of it would keep me from keeping solid with the main trunk
where I
would have to modify the team page to change how the skill list is displayed.

I just don't understand why you suddenly need this. I thought your module was
finished?

Also, I misunderstood you, I thought you wanted to implemented something like
/roll
in your php-chat.

I don't like adding that extra column, I don't see the need and obblm works
great
like this. What is the problem suddenly? It has worked for you up until now?

It works fine and will be used without the automated skill option for a while.
I
just feel the coaches will really want an automated skill option to avoid any
confusion and not having to go to the chat to roll in front of everyone. At
this
point in the site I could care less if people choose whatever skill they want,
but
there will be a point where coaches will feel they shouldn't have to question
whether or not another coach truly rolled 3 players with +ST.

I definitely understand this is a little out of scope for OBBLM, but I can
imagine
that it would be possible for tabletop leagues to enjoy this option as it could
give
coaches time to choose and still with a very large tabletop league, I can see
similar questions. "Hey did Bob really roll all those +ST guys?" Of course
you
just ask the last coach that played him, but this way there is no need.

Sorry, but my stand is pretty clear on this one. I don't want to incorporate
the game
into obblm - it's your module's need, not a table-top game's.
Besides, there are other ways to cheat in obblm - the software is written under
the
assumption that people know each other/don't cheat (I see this is a problem with
botocs and cyanide bb, but obblm was not designed with them in mind, as you
know).
If it's the cheating aspect which is the largest problem for you we'll have to
deal
with in in some other way for now.

Understood. I actually knew you would reject it, but thought I'd throw it out
there :)
