What is the goal with this subsystem? The reason I am asking is because I have -
still slowly though - started working on the player-info page again.

This simply means that I'll be writing a class, at some point, which will take 
care
of all picture related actions - unlike now where there are a handful of 
different
functions working as the interface for getting, saving and displaying pictures.
In your case it'll not affect your work besides a couple of function renamings.

This will allow you more freedom to generate pictures + upload forms for 
pictures of
your liking.
