Imported dead players cant be given extra SPP/skills #59

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Import a team with a dead player
2. As an admin, look at the team
3. Select "Manage player extra SPP" or "Manage player extra skills"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to be able to select the dead player, and reward him the extra SPP
he had (since he is an imported player with a background + skills).

The player does not show up in the list (because he is dead).

Because of this, it is not possible to import a dead player and give him
the SPP and skills he had when he died.

What version of the product are you using?
0.37

Please provide any additional information below.
I can solve the extra SPP myself by hacking directly in the database, but
this is never healthy, so I try to avoid this :)

Im thinking the best "solution" to this is to make it very very clear in the
documentation, that imports are only imports of the current team. Trying to
import
former/dead players is not recomended. If you want the history, you have to
recreate
the former tournaments by hand (all played matches).

I agree.
Please note that OBBLM is quite flexible regarding what is stored in the DB, so
changing SPP like you did is quite OK. I've just not allowed admins to do it
from the
webpage to reduce the long player list, not because it's not possible :-).

Maybe giving SPP and selecting skills for dead players should be possible?
What do you think?

Since this is only an issue when dealing with imported teams, and as such, only
really important when someone converts from a pen-paper-league to using OBBLM -
this
is very low priority, I agree.

Maybe things like this should be added to the wiki, so that league
administrators can
find help there - not everyone who wants to run an OBBLM league knows how to
edit
their database, but if there is a nice tutorial it would be an ok solution -
until
some day a full blown "Administration Panel" where the admin can edit everything
online is added.
