I also encounter the problem. I tried with several formats but i found that
all of them have libmad.plg as audio decoder. When the audio is not compressed
in such a way that have to be decoded by that plugin it appear to function. By
the way the device is also based on sirf atlas iv. I tried various combinations
from the latest build to older ones including compiling the svn. It'll be
great that somebody can tell how can i contribute to document the bug properly.
Also i can't find the famous "crash.txt" file...

Crash.txt usually is located in "\My Documents" directory. Libmad.plg is used
to decode mpeg audio files (most common one is mp3), so obviously your video
file contains mp3 audio track. You could try to play an mp3 audio file to see
if player crashes then it would be clear whether the issue is solely related to
libmad.plg.

Also does it play other audio files? like flac? Issue might be as well related
to generic oudio output.

This problem is really annoying
I have 2 gps, on the wince 5 it works normal, on the ce 6 i cant get files to
play without crashing
If i put a TMPC it plays the first time, then the second it will crash
