Automatically add lipd files to iso2k database #141

Hi

Is there a possibility/script to "automatically" read in and add a *.lpd file to the iso2k database in R for example? It would help us reseasrchers a lot, since new datasets are being published and it is always easier to work with the isok2 dataset then with standalone lpd files.

For instance I created a lpd file from this ice core d18O dataset and would like to merge it with the iso2k database.

Any assistance is highly appreciated!

Best regards,

István

Hi @istvan60 . The plan with expanding iso2k is for people to submit new files, like this, and for them to be periodically reviewed and added. You can add the data to the pool by clicking the "submit to lipdverse" button on lipd.net/playground . We're still working on improving this, so opening an issue here until that process is smoother is a good idea. In the meantime, you can also create files like you did, and then add them to a collection of LiPD files locally on your computer and analyze them together.

Dear @nickmckay Thank you for the answer, the whole system you worked out is indeed great. What I was wondering though is how to add my lpd file to a collection on my computer, for examples using the files I mentioned in my original question.

I did not find any script, description or anything on that neither in R, nor in the original studies....
