Minor tweaks to #119 (big export refactoring)

This is targeting the branch for #119 (the big export refactoring).

This addresses:

• 116, where the output config files are missing a newline character at the ends of their files.

• 112, which outputs a message for each file being written.

Cheers. I've taken one or two of these changes but not all of them. I don't think the regex change adds anything, for example. If it's ok I'll close this and add the little bits like reporting what files are written during export back later.
