What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Connect the Glass to a WiFi network with multiple APs (in our network we
have the HP-E-MSM460 APs)
2. Start walking around the office until the device changes the AP is connected
to
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The device losses the connectivity when is changing from one AP to the other.
The connectivity is recovered after a few seconds, when the device connects
with the other AP. We have not noticed this problem with other Android devices,
like Samsung Galaxy S 2 with Android 4.1.2 or Nexus 5 with Android 4.4. This is
a very big problem in applications like Google Hangouts, if the connectivity is
lost for a moment the video call ends or the video signal gets frozen.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Google Glass with XE12
Please provide any additional information below.
- I have created a tiny app that pings Google every 3s and I have installed it
on the Glass and on my Nexus 5 (with the mobile data disabled). Walking around
the conflictive zones (the zones between two APs) the Glass has lost the
connectivity multiple times but the Nexus 5 not.
- We have performed tests in similar networks with the same results.
- We have tested that this is not a problem of zones with insufficient WiFi
coverage. We have tested the connectivity with a single AP and we don't loose
the connection in the conflictive zones
- We have tested the connectivity with other devices and we have had no
problems: Galaxy S 2 with Android 4.1.2, Laptop with Windows 7, Mac book pro
with OS X 10.8, iPad with iOS 5
