Horizontal layout?

Is it possible to do a horizontal rectangular layout, to better fit a touchscreen? We're using 7 inch touchscreens to replace our old alarm panels and it would be nice to fill the display without needing to zoom and pan.

Sorry if this is trivial and I should just modify it myself. I'm not quite there yet, and thought I'd ask in case it's easy or others have mentioned it. If I do manage to get an alternate layout I'll contribute it back.

Apparently my (and many other) 7 inch touchpad displays are 1024X600.
