Temporarily override a schedule

Proposal

Allow temporary changes to be made to a schedule.

Additional info

I have a heater schedule that turns off the heater during the day when we are at work. Some days we will return home early, and on these days I am currently creating a one-off schedule to increase the heating earlier than the regular schedule. It would be convenient to be able to make a temporary change to the existing heater schedule instead. What I have in mind is that if the schedule can be seen as a sequence of events. I would like the option to delete, or change the time and action of the 'next' event. e.g if the next scheduled 'event' is "Set heating to 20C at 4pm" I would like to be able to change that single instance to "Set heating to 20C at 2pm"
