You are NOT focused on collisions or detections, but focused on scene or interactions that occur after collision. This is similar to how Dog barked at Monkey. To make this platformer game for interesting we are looking for more ascetics in each event.
Review code where goomba is destroyed in goomba collision and player is destroyed in player condition. There could be many scenes or interactions in the game...
Jumping on Goomba could disintegrate goomba add points
Jumping into coin can spin coin and make noise
Head collision to the bottom of platform could cause headache animation
Goomba could collide into another Goomba
Or you could have non death RPG characters that talk or bark
Other spice
Screen transitions would be nice between levels.
Making more interesting on start and end screens.
Perhaps using Parallax features on these screen to add a little spice. Birds or flying monkeys depending on level.
Here are some leftovers elements from 2.0
Add another RPG element (ex: add a 2nd ability tied to some key, create an NPC interaction, add story, etc.)
Have you noticed the timeout feature is jittery? Try and make it smooth! By implementing a clock for the timeout, we are interfering with the game’s own clock. Try your best to fix this. This could also be thought of as a “stamina” feature.
