nightingale-media-player / nightingale-hacking

Working tree for the community fork of Songbird, Nightingale. If building, use the sb-trunk-oldxul (development) branch, with the tag 1.12.1 tag for stable, for now. The master-xul-9.0.1 branch is the current progress in building Nightingale with XULRunner 9 and builds, but is broken. All help in terms of patches and pull requests is welcome.

No release for almost 2 years. There seems to be stuff happening in the repository - but is there a way to get a recent (working) build?

The nightly build bots are sadly broken. However the ubuntu nightly PPA still works. There's also nightingale-git on arch. For everything else you'd have to build it yourself. There's a blogpost in the works on the upcoming release,

BlaM commented 9 years ago

So there will be a release relatively soon? (Windows in my case)

freaktechnik commented 9 years ago

hopefully.

+1

Sorry to bump this, but how is progress going? I'm also the guy who inquired about the Last.fm addon not scrobbling back in August.

freaktechnik commented 8 years ago

There is nothing more precise to report, else there would've been a blog post, or at least posts on social media about it.

Maybe we should planned a "date" for a 1.13 release, as we have some work to do before to get things done properly

BlaM commented 8 years ago

I downloaded and installed the Windows version and it updated my existing 1.12 nicely. Just got stuck on first start up in the "checking plugin compatibility" window at "checking Purple Rain completed" with the Next button disabled - but with a close window control. So when I closed the window it continued.

First impression after 10 minutes: runs smoothly and might be a little faster than before.

@AntoineTurmel I think a developer meeting is scheduled for tomorrow...if people are around maybe it can be discussed then? @freaktechnik @ilikenwf @rsjtdrjgfuzkfg

@ilikenwf 21:00 UTC is the usual time

rsjtdrjgfuzkfg commented 8 years ago

It is quite unlikely for me to make it, but yes, 4. June 2016, 21:00 UTC would match the old schedule. As I'm still terribly busy IRL I think my input is unlikely to have a huge impact (as I won't be able to do time consuming stuff), so I don't think it makes sense to re-schedule because of me :)

RedSoxFan04 commented 7 years ago

I’m not sure why, but it seems like a couple of the plugins I’ve been using aren’t compatible with version 1.13. Specifically: Whirlybird, and MLyrics, though it looks like MLyrics hasn’t been updated in a while.

rsjtdrjgfuzkfg commented 7 years ago

@RedSoxFan04 you can probably bump compatibility manually (by modifying install.rdf). As 1.12 is still the latest release, many add-ons are referring to 1.12 as maximal version (1.13 did not yet get a release).
