Yep, I think this should be possible. Ultimately, it's up to the social media site itself to select an appropriate image and text snippet, and while we can't control them directly, there are ways to embed hints into the page markup to encourage them to make the right choice.
@partnersmap Do you guys happen to have an official Twitter account?
@partnersmap And/or an official Facebook presence?
Not for partners map. But we are advertising it through Children Without Worms.

@partnersmap This is now live. Facebook and Twitter probably cache this info, though, so it might take a day or two for the new image and description to start showing up on social media.
I'm not sure if this is something that you could do. But when posting to social media wrong meta-text is used to describe the site. The logo is also too large.
I don't have much knowledge in this area. Is this something that you guys could fix? Ideally, we'd want the description to read from the share your data blurb:
"The Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD) Partners Map shows where organizations are working, what activities they are doing, and how to contact them for more information. To showcase your projects on the map, please follow our data submission guide and email a completed data form to cww@taskforce.org."
And the logo to be that at the bottom of the page.
