Can we include something like this every week please?
We have transitioned to a new onboarding system for the CFDE. New members will need a member sponsor to fill out the onboarding form after logging on to the CFDE Website. The new member will then need to accept the invitations to Slack, GitHub, Google Groups, and Groups.io to complete the onboarding process.
Subject: Common Fund Data Ecosystem (CFDE) Funding Opportunity: Pilot Projects Enhancing Utility and Usage of Common Fund Data Sets
The NIH Common Fund supports transformative research programs that generate new technologies, methods, and data. Many of these programs produce rich public data sets containing various multi-dimensional molecular and phenotypic data from a range of sources. To maximize the impact of these data, engage a diverse community of end-users for broader adoption of these data sets, and to obtain feedback from award recipients to enhance the data resources, the Common Fund plans to support small research projects (R03) using data sets from two or more Common Fund programs. Awards are intended to enable novel and compelling biological questions to be formulated and addressed, and/or to generate cross-cutting hypotheses for future research. Investigators may add publicly available datasets to their proposals.
The goals of this funding opportunity announcement (RFA-RM-23-003) are to 1) promote the use of Common Fund data sets by supporting pilot studies based on analyses across two or more Common Fund program data sets; 2) enhance the utility of existing Common Fund data sets by developing workflows, analytic and simulation tools which will enable simultaneous analysis of multiple Common Fund data sets; and 3) demonstrate the added-value of integrating multiple Common Fund data resources in addressing biomedical research questions.

Some teams are transitioning to the proposed monthly meeting scheduled beginning in January. If your team is making this transition there will be a flurry of cancellation and updated cancellations in your inbox. If you are in doubt, check the rolling agenda for your team meeting and plan accordingly. Notify the helpdesk (support@cfde.atlassian.net) if you are missing an invitation or cannot find your meeting.
The next meeting is TOMORROW, Tuesday, December 6th, at 2 pm ET/ 11 am PT. The meeting agenda includes three CFDE Partnership Talks on the Gene-Centric Dashboard, Toxicology, and CLOVoc (Clinical Observations and Vocabularies). Regular Cross-Pollination events take place on the first Tuesday of every month. View the Cross-Pollination Schedule for more details. Email support@cfde.atlassian.net if you would like to present.
The next data submission period for C2M2 will take place between December 1st and January 9th. Successful new submissions are planned to roll out to production on January 19th.
One RFC is now available for comment by the community until December 25th
• Building Ontology Slims for CFDE
RFC stands for “Requests for Comments”. These are proposals being made by members of the CFDE to suggest that the CFDE community as a whole adopt the suggested new best practice. Everyone in the community is invited to respond to these proposals by leaving comments, critiques, and support at the links above. Comments are open for one month at which point the documents will be reviewed. If there are no substantial objections to the RFC in that time, it will be adopted as a CFDE Best Practice. You can read more about our RFC process here.
