Spread the Word! HuBMAP - Hacking the Human Vasculature Kaggle Competition The 3rd HuBMAP Kaggle competition is now live! The teams are tasked to develop machine learning methods to segment instances of microvascular structures, including capillaries, arterioles, and venules in 2D PAS-stained histology images from human kidney tissue slides. A total prize amount of $50,000 (sponsored by Google and Kaggle) will be distributed among the five winning teams. The Common Fund SPARC program, which partners with CFDE, has an upcoming Codeathon that may be of interest to CFDE members. Here is a blurb to advertise it in the CFDE newsletter:

The third annual virtual SPARC Codeathon will take place from August 5-7. This global prize competition is currently recruiting participants to make SPARC data and resources more Findable, Interoperable, Accessible, and Reusable (FAIR). Any interested participant can join projects spanning data visualization, simulation tool development, python workflow creation, and more to compete for $50,000 in prizes. Cross-Pollination Meeting

The next meeting is Tuesday, August 1st, at 2 pm ET/ 11 am PT. There is no July Cross-Pollination Event planned. Regular Cross-Pollination events take place on the first Tuesday of every month. View the Cross-Pollination Schedule for more details. Email support@cfde.atlassian.net if you would like to present.

As we transition some of our services to new accounts there should be a flurry of new meeting invitations (especially for monthly and bi-weekly CFDE-DCC meetings).
