constant reconnects #659

Update to 2 20 results in a reconnect every aprox 10 sec. Every option I choose result in a reconnect and back to the start page.

I am sorry that you have problems with the new version.

I have a few questions to help pinpoint the problem.

  1. What is the result of running a scan for servers from squeezer?
  2. Can you connect to the scan result from the browser on the same device you run Squeezer?
  3. Which version of LMS are you running?
  4. Is LMS password protected?
  5. What is "start page"? if possible post a screenshot
  6. If there is any error message in the server log when Squeezer attempts to connect, then please send it to me:

It find the server without any trouble.

  1. Can you connect to the scan result from the browser on the same device you run Squeezer?

if you mean i can connect to the logitech server via the browser on the smartphone the answer is YES.

  1. Which version of LMS are you running?

start page is the first page squeezer starts..

No errors found..

Its a bit hit and mis. Sometimes Squeezer seems to work as expected and other times ( most) it keeps reconnecting.

Attention!

Just upgraded to: Logitech Media Server Versie: 8.0.0 - 1601455867 @ Wed Sep 30 11:13:07 WEDT 2020

Looking at the https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver/commits/public/8.0 there is nothing related changed but i am able to run the new Squeezer without problems for the last hour.

Unfortunately I am not able to reproduce this. I also tried to upgrade to LMS 8 (October 2 version), and it runs without any problems.

Does Squeezer still run reliably and does not loose the connection?

At the moment squeezer runs great.. not sure if it is related to the LMS update i did. Every LMS update always results in a restart so maybe there was a problem before. For now it seems solved. I will come back if the problem reappears.

Hello, i have the same Problem. Device: Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Huawei P30 pro. LMS 8.2 auf Raspberry Pi4 with MAX2PLAY-Image on Lan. Same with actual Version from Play-Store. No Errors in LMS and no Password protection. With older Versions everething was fine.

Does a restart of LMS fix the problem?

No, it is the same after a restart of LMS. It immediately starts reconnecting. It works for a while on one cell phone, while the problem occurs on the other at the same time. Only clearing the cache from Squeezer brings something. It clearly seems to have to do with the installation on the phones. Can I see Squeezer log files somewhere?

I'm not sure what's causing this, and I am unable to reproduce it.

From a review on Google Play I learned that one user solved this issue by deselecting "Auto-connect" (in Squeezer select the three-dot-menu on the top right and select settings).

I'm not aware of an easy way to see the log files, and I'm not sure if they would provide any more insight to the issue (other than the connection is lost, which you already know). The see application logs you have to install Android Studio and use the logcat window (https://developer.android.com/studio/debug/am-logcat) or install adb and use "adb logcat ..." (https://developer.android.com/studio/command-line/logcat)

I have the same problem and I spotted one type of logs - maybe relevant maybe not

@polrus Thanks for the log-info, I will investigate if it has any impact. Does disabling ""Auto-connect"" make any difference?

I have updated and restarted my LMS server to 8.1 for now the issue is not visible, but as soon as I see it I will check the impact of auto-connect

@polrus Thanks for the feedback, and happy to hear it's working now. I don't have any "Slim::Web::Cometd::handler (200) Invalid request without clientId" messages in the log files on my servers. I also inspected the server code, and as for as I can tell this log message does not signal a disconnect.

When/if this happens I'm interested in the server logs leading up to the disconnect. In the LMS web-interface select Settings/Advanced/Logging and raise the "(network.cometd) - Cometd protocol logging" log-level to Debug. Check the log-messages for any sensitive information, and then attach them to this issue.

In the debug mode of the log files I now have the following entries. The problem is logged at 08:37:19.2211. And my squeezer is active on 192.168.0.115. Deactivating the automatic connection makes no difference to me. The Log-Snipped:

@thl81 Thank you very much for the detailed description. This was exactly what I requested. Unfortunately I am still not able to find the root cause, nor to reproduce it. The log however indicates that the disconnection is originated from the client (Squeezer on Android), not something Squeezer does which causes the server to disconnect. So this is the direction I'm investigating now.

For me it is the same issue I think since 3 or 4 versions now. Restarting often after few seconds makes the app more or less unusable. I have a Samsung Galaxy A6. All the topics mentioned above did not solve the issue. Please find here some logs from the LMS refelcting some re-connects. Let me know, if I can provide any additional information.

Just my 2 cents on this. I have a Huawei P40 Pro (without Google) and was running Squeezer 2.2.1. I had the same problem. I found a 2.2.2. version somewhere and it's better now.

This happens to me when I am mucking around with various players like my softsqueezes on various linux pcs, my squeezeboxes, some squeezeplays on windows devices, etc.

And the best answer is to turn off the devices or find the specific one that is causing the error because it seems to happen when one player fails to sync and tries over and over again.

Someone, I think a developer mentioned above it was a player issue and that is correct for the most part.
