#709 Collapse NR to a single pass, #2447

With new features, it should be possible to collapse NR method to a single pass to rid GLD of /NR_mode == true or false\ confusion. However, this needs to be tested and validated intensively.

Collapse has been in place in trunk and 3.0 for most of the past year with no known issues. Should be resolved and able to close.
