#714 May be some unexpected memory leaks or \over-allocations\ inside GLD,

This problem was seen in version 2.2/2.3, so it may already be resolved in 3.0. Running some of the populated taxonomy feeders, and a user-specific one (too big to attach, so let me know if you want it), the memory seems to swell to quite a large size during the simulation. The user has reported values up to 5.5 GB during the runs. Quick testing on Windows profiler shows that memory did swell to about 3 GB, but remained steady there (which doesn't seem to indicate a memory leak to me, since it is stable).

Unsure what is actually the cause of this large memory allocation or if there is anything we can really do about it, so an item for exploration when we have a chance.
