Support for 2015 TVs? #53

Open BoostHungry opened 9 years ago

BoostHungry commented 9 years ago

Is there support for 2015 TVs? The instructions don't seem to be valid for 2015 Samsungs.

On my JS8500, I can login with account "develop", but when I long press an app in "My Apps" I do not get an option for "IP Settings", I only get options for "Reinstall", "Move", and "View Details".

easyMaxi commented 9 years ago

I'm sure there ist somewhere a similar option. I will download a simulator and have a look. Give me 2 days (:

monkeyphysics commented 9 years ago

Meanwhile you could try out this fork, see if you get better results:

https://github.com/psobiech/smarttv-twitch

yeetmeintothesunn commented 9 years ago

Did anyone find the options for the 2015 tv's? I'm having the same issue.

namidairo commented 9 years ago

Current Samsung Tizen TV Software does not support developer mode, so unfinished Web Applications cannot be tested on the TV. To test a Web Application on the TV, TV software should be updated. We will update the TV software soon. After the update, you will be able to test a Web Application on the TV using SDK 1.5 version. Please wait for some time until the TV software is updated.

From the SDK download page.

monkeyphysics commented 9 years ago

@namidairo thanks for clearing that up. The update will be "soon", so wait and see.

nandateme commented 9 years ago

Same problem here, I finally figured out that I have a 2015 TV (and not 2014), that's probably why I never achieved to create develop account :/

I'm pretty frustrated ; are they kidding, the update will be "soon", what the hell does "soon" means, it can be few days as several months... someone having any clue about it ?

namidairo commented 9 years ago

I should probably mention that I've been running it from the userwidget folder on a usb for a while.

Grab whatever zip is listed in 188.226.130.26/widgetlist.xml (Note that the ip matches the one in the readme, should it change.) and then stick that in the userwidget folder on a usb. It should auto-install when you start your tv with plugged in.

The icon does not display, but other than that it works.

Note that this probably won't work on the 2016 models or whenever Samsung ditches the emulator for SmartHub apps on their Tizen models, so we'll need to port the app to Tizen at some point in the future.

ghost commented 9 years ago

Thanks a lot namidairo, that worked ! I used a similar approach for the plex app, which worked as well.

michi512 commented 9 years ago

USB didn't work for me. "Unable to install".. What i am doing wrong?? Saved the xml in "userwidget" folder on my usb.

SimonChatillon commented 9 years ago

michi512, I think he meant copy the zip file into the usb, not the xml file. You can download the zip file with the address given in the xml file. I will try that later today and see if that works.

n8claw commented 9 years ago

using UE48J6270 (2015 model) and installation over usb pen works fine (actual v3.5), but the twitch-app-image logo is just black. i think there is a compilation problem, some one a solution for this?

mgoldman63 commented 8 years ago

So I'm trying to figure out how to watch twitch on my Samsung PN60F5500. I've tried following instructions throughout the internet but can't figure it out. I was hoping someone could help me out. I've tried using the widgetfolder method but that won't work. I created a folder called "userwidget" and dropped the zip file in there. Plugged it into the TV, turned it off and on. My understanding was it would install automatically. It doesn't. I then tried the same thing but extracted the zip file and put those files inside the userwidget folder and still nothing. I tired the method described at this link (which is how I ended up in this thread):

http://www.joindota.com/en/forums/691-joindota-and-community/693-community/197997-twitch-tv-samsung-smarttv-app

I can't get to an ip settings option.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

ghost commented 8 years ago

Hi mgoldman63, I can only tell you that the widgetfolder-method worked for me and that the ip-method will not work on 2015 TVs. I have heard of people having success with unzipping and rezipping the zip-file, have you tried that ?

mgoldman63 commented 8 years ago

I bought my TV in March 2014, could it be a 2015 model? Not sure how the model years work with TVs. I will try the rezip idea. Just so I fully understand, you put the .zip fine in a folder called userwidget and the TV will unzip the file itself? All you have to do is plug it in and it will recognize it and install automatically?

mgoldman63 commented 8 years ago

How long do you wait for it to auto install? The file I have put in the userwidget folder is called TwitchTV_3.5_America_20150904.zip. Is that correct?

ghost commented 8 years ago

yes thats correct.it should start autoinstallation immediately. 30s max.

ghost commented 8 years ago

Also see post #255 at the joindota thread you linked. Oh and just making sure: no quotation marks around userwidget :)

n8claw commented 8 years ago

I have also the problem that the app icon isn't shown just black, any solutions?

brerpep commented 8 years ago

Hi mgoldman63 and laterxd

I just installed the app thru pen drive (as you guys described in your comments) and it does run in my tv (40JU6500) but as soon as i click on any channel, the screen goes black with the "retrying x/15" countdown and ends up with "error: unable to retrieve access token". any comments? thank you in advance :)

ghost commented 8 years ago

hi, I just found out they added developer mode support for 2015 models in october. Just press smarthub button and select my apps. Then press 12345 in sequence And developer mode options appear. Try installing it through dev mode as described in threads linked here.

mgoldman63 commented 8 years ago

So I tried the post #255 method, no luck. I saw the most recent post from laterxd about getting into developer mode, one problem: I have one of those remotes with no #s. Any way around that?

billobot9000 commented 8 years ago

Also tried @laterxd 's method, but after entering the ip and pressing OK it says "Please reboot for applying develop mode" - even after rebooting. 1 2

Zeruel87 commented 8 years ago

same Problem here, trying to download the App with the IP gehts me the "Please reboot for applying develop mode", downloading Twitch App .Zip file and putting it on a USB device with the name Userwidget does not work either, the TV does not seem to recognize .Zip files.

watching twitch directly with the WebBrowser also does not work because there is no Flash Player on the device, i also found others with the same problem they even contacted Samsung and they don't know if or when Flash will be updated on the TV via a Firmware update...

there is no possible way to directly watch Twitch on the TV right now :(

n8claw commented 8 years ago
  1. Download the app: https://github.com/mkvd/smarttv-twitch/releases
  2. Format a USB-Stick (FAT16) and create folder "userwidget" in root.
  3. Copy downloaded ZIP-file (TwitchTV_3.5_America_20150904.zip) to /userwidget
  4. Login to Developer-User* (Settings>SmartHub>Samsung Account)
  5. Go to SmartHub: Select "My Apps" and plug-in the USB-Stick.

Now it takes some seconds and you will see a message if installed or not, have fun:-) *Developer-User, Name: develop + Password is empty

PS: Can anybody help to fix the "black App-Icon" problem on newer TV's?!

pedrro commented 8 years ago

Thanks @n8claw, I'll try this tonight!

Zeruel87 commented 8 years ago

@n8claw it really worked :) thanks a lot!

pedrro commented 8 years ago

Hey @n8claw I'm on step 5, where I enter in "My Apps" at Smart HUB, but, I can't find the option "Own Apps" in my television, what I should do? If I put the pen drive in my apps screen, the pen drive is detected, but, nothing happens and if I enter on userwidget folder, the zip file not appear.

Imgur

Im on developer account, my pendrive is formated on FAT16 as specificated and the zip file is inside of folder userwidget/.

My smart tv is model UN32J5500AGXZD, could you help me?

n8claw commented 8 years ago

i just maen y have to start SmartHub and jump into MY APP selection, then plug-in the USB-Stick to install the app.

pedrro commented 8 years ago

@n8claw Yeah, I tried this, but, when I plug the usb-stick, it is detected, but what appear is a message to see the content inside usb-stick. :(

n8claw commented 8 years ago

the message i have also but just click nothing and have to wait some seconds.. then you get a info banner at top about the installation status, successfully or not!

because, i get only a message to open the usb drive not directly the content inside -

pedrro commented 8 years ago

@n8claw So, this is the screen that I told u..

Imgur

If I click on yes, im redirected to content folder if I click on no or don't click, nothing happens :(

I tried to unzip the folder, but nothing happens too

n8claw commented 8 years ago

I don't know! Try a other USB-pen, redownload the ZIP-file.. If the zip file is in /userwidget folder the TV locate them by him self and start the installation process automatically. And y sure you logged in as develop user?

pedrro commented 8 years ago

Yeah, I don't if im doing something wrong.. ;(

jmarceno commented 8 years ago

As @pedrro I tried to follow the steps, tried to re-package the zip and even tried the fork at https://github.com/psobiech/smarttv-twitch. But nothing seems to help. Mine is a un55ju7500. Dev mode is on. Logged as develop, pendrive formatted in FAT16. It has a PT-Br firmware too. This can be the issue?

the4anoni commented 8 years ago

@n8claw method works for me. I'm on latest firmware.

powerwolfer commented 8 years ago

The method doesn't work for me on the latest firmware...it worked couple of firmwares ago, but now nothing happens when I put the USB stick...

ghost commented 8 years ago

I have followed the same steps mentioned the earlier posts and still I am unable to install the applications through USB Stick, as nothing happens after inserting the USB Stick in "My Apps" screen:

1) Download the app: https://github.com/mkvd/smarttv-twitch/releases 2) Format a USB-Stick (FAT16) and create folder "userwidget" in root. 3) Copy downloaded ZIP-file (TwitchTV_3.5_America_20150904.zip) to /userwidget 4) Login to Developer-User* (Settings>SmartHub>Samsung Account) 5) Go to SmartHub: Select "My Apps" and plug-in the USB-Stick. 6) Getting popup Device Connected - Device Name: Mass Storage Would you like to look through your files in MY CONTENT and nothing happens in background for installing apps

Details of Samsung Smart TV used are mentioned below: Model Code : UA32J6300 Software version : T-HKMFUABC-1422.0 Sub-micom Version : T-HKMFDEUS-1018

I have tried different formatting options available in Windows and Linux. Below mentioned are the disk partition details I have tried: Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sdc1 936 7884799 3941932 6 FAT16(Formatted in Windows) /dev/sdc1 936 7884799 3941932 e W95 FAT16 (LBA)(Formatted in Ubuntu through GParted Partition Editor Tool) /dev/sdc1 936 7884799 3941932 c W95 FAT32 (LBA)(Formatted in Ubuntu through Disks Tool)

Please let me know is there any difference in the steps followed for installing app or are there any other ways of installing applications other than through USB?

curryyy commented 8 years ago

It isn't possible to install Apps using USB userwidget anymore. They updated the Firmware like 2 Weeks ago (1431). You can use Amazon Fire Stick+Kodi+Twitch App(on Source no Laggs).

ghost commented 8 years ago

@curryyy can you please elaborate on the steps to install the app onto Samsung TV using Amazon Fire Stick+Kodi+Twitch App.

Cigano33 commented 8 years ago

Already accomplished all of the above procedures , with the T- HKMFUABC 1440 firmware, I connected the developer so too, in red above information , but when I connect the pendrive nothing happens.

curryyy commented 8 years ago

@sarath4064

  1. Buy Amazon Fire Stick (30$)
  2. Watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4H7J08qHmHU
  3. After you installed Kodi on your Fire Stick go to Videos -> Addons -> And search for the Twitch App

I hope this helped you.

n8claw commented 8 years ago

So folk, since samsung released the newer firmware (>1412.x) the usb-installation never work. if y have installed the app on older version it will work but don't do any reset to the TV then the app is gone and the reinstallation fails if the newer firmware are installed! In my case, the auto-updater patched the firmware to version 1422.3 and the TV runs very bad, sometimes it reset by him self and the apps are closed after 10min. There is no way to down-grade the firmware and no way to reinstall twitch after resetting the system, but the reset not helps and now my twitch app is lost too. i have to downgrade the firmware but how, or use the guarantee to switch to a new one with old firmware;)

jobn123 commented 8 years ago

@pedrro do you solve this problem i have the same problem with you

pedrro commented 8 years ago

@jobn123 No, I don't, this problem is caused by the last firmware

n8claw commented 8 years ago

info: n8claw commented on Dec 9, 2015

the upper process work perfect but only up to firmware-version (j-serie 62xx) T-HKMFDEUC 1412.1 after upgrade to a newer one the local usb-installation and the "develop-user" has been disabled.

jobn123 commented 8 years ago

@pedrro hello i recognized that samsung tizen cant install app with usb because new firmware upgrade, you can install app with ide

pedrro commented 8 years ago

@jobn123 So, do you have a tutorial about this new way to install the app?

n8claw commented 8 years ago

Hm.. the only one is by Samsung SDK Development (IDE) Process or what do you need?! @jobn123

jobn123 commented 8 years ago

@pedrro yeah i use this way install my app successfully first of all you should download tizen-ide and import your project by select tizen project then you need to connet your pc to tv last select your project run as tizen web application then you can see your app installed on your tv

n8claw commented 8 years ago

How to connect from Tizen-IDE to my Samsung TV J-Series? I can't find the "Remote Connection Manager"
