Can you adapt this project to use a „normal“ Raspberry Pi 3?

I was able to run it on a Raspberry Pi 1, it does require some fiddling with the image and OS setup. Nothing worked out of the box for me. With that said, take a look at https://raw.githubusercontent.com/nikivanov/watney/master/images/pi-gpio.png, which the author provided with the README file. It contains both Raspberry Pi Zero W and RPi 3 Pin mappings.
