Scripts can be easily hacked. Making the installer into a compiled binary makes this somewhat harder.

Twas a nice idea, but it would make it impossible to install via bash/curl, which honestly makes me twitch, but is one of the things that people do, and something that makes installation very quick and easy. People don't blindly install scripts piping curl to bash do they? Do they?!!??
