With one of the recent L4D2 updates, Valve made it (accidentally most likely)
so when the gamemode is changed to versus, it causes connected clients to
crash. Right now the only way to avoid it is to do "sm_cvar mp_gamemode
versus" through HLSW or something similar, then when you do
!forcematch/sm_forcematch it shouldn't change the game mode.
We are looking into changing the gamemode change to during the map change
before clients reconnect.

Changing mp_gamemode manually no longer works (valve issue). This should fix
your crashing.
You must connect to your server from a versus lobby to use confogl in versus
mode.
