This project is my attempt at visualizing the open life sciences landscape in India to aid undergraduates in the nation to find the right avenue to participate in, in their careers.
Take responsibility. Know that you are not immune to such bias.
Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.

What's next
Define the bias.
Establish that I am the cause.
Take steps actively to work against this bias - I tend to ask my close friends to keep an eye out for such actions so that I have a few failsafe around me.
Bringing out the big guns!
Decide with the help of clear criteria. By establishing this criterion I am better positioned to invite different individuals rather than people who align with my opinion.
In the community, I reiterate the importance of making any evaluation public and the assignment of projects or tasks as well. This way everyone gets the chance to sit at the table, but none of them are chosen preferentially with silver cutlery.
When overwhelmed with a decision I take out my phone and play my go-to song to remember my routes - Walk by Kwabs
Finally, everything I do, I do to set an example for others to compare and perhaps even follow.
Standardization is the blueprint for scalability
I set ground rules and boundary conditions for any team and every team member
Inspire teams to establish a GP, Good Practice in any area of their choosing in their team's jurisdiction
I recognize efforts made by a shout-out, and a set of personal words to make sure that the person knows that I appreciate their presence
I always ensure that I am in a receptive mood to accept feedback. This way I stand to help my members better by ensuring that, momentarily my walls are down.
I strive to identify the population of the individuals who are missing from my community. This is the hardest, for me and I always know when to ask for help.
In the end, I just try to be a better human, and that is all I ask from my peers : )
