std/nre replace with maxSplit is broken #22018

Description

The nre.replace doesn't takes into account maxsplit = 1 and splits into 3 parts, play

import std/nre
echo "1.2.3".split(re"\.", maxsplit = 1) # => @["1", "2", "3"] error
echo "1.2.3".split(re"\.", maxsplit = 2) # => @["1", "2.3"]

Just use strscans, it's soo much better than regexes.

Thanks, will check it out.

I'm closing this ticket, I think std/[re, nre] regex library needs serious API redesign anyway, and maybe even moved to third-party library.

It's a valid bug regardless. And there is nim-regex as a third-party solution.
