needed changes for macros #1358

@kenkellner I think you had some things you needed in nimble itself for the macros (most of which I think will be in a separate package). Is this something you're in a position to make a pull request of? We're aiming to release nimble 1.1.0 before the holidays so I was thinking it would be a good time.
