As a side note, when 3-d models are implemented I would like to know what scale
to draw them in. (Currently my modeling program does stuff in terms of feet
and inches.)

I will be switching over to Bleder to do 3d work. I cannot get textures to
behave properly in sketchup. It keeps trying to transform my low textures into
1024x1024. That would have serious consequences for the end user.
Why I chose blender as opposed to an Autodesk product (Maya, 3ds Max etc) Is
blender is multiplatform and most important free. That way if any otherr
member of the team wants to mess with the 3d images they are not forced to buy
anything.
Seeing as I have never used blender before it will take a bit of getting used
to, and soon as it finishes downloading I will comment on which file types I am
able to export.

After messing with blender for a bit, It is fairly easy to use. Almost like
Maya which I am used to. It does have a variety of export options. If work
has been started on the COLLADA export type (file extension .dae) it does not
have to discontinue. Blender is capable of exporting in that file type.

Has been taken care of. We now have the ability to make 3d models appear in
game.
We are using blender with a custom export script and the objects are .obx files.
