DRAFT DOCUMENTATION CHANGES

As new developers (and to some degree, new users) come on board with Nion Swift, the simulator will provide an important avenue of introduction and testing of new code, particularly with acquisition.

In order that new developers without microscopy training have some idea where to begin, I want to provide an overview of microscopes and particularly STEM instruments.

This text is a starting point (no diagrams or external links yet). Please keep in mind that this is intended to be explanatory but not too technical.

It should provide a basic overview of a STEM instrument for a developer with no microscopy experience, but enough information so that they can perform basic acquisition and understand the instrument, detectors, and acquisition techniques.

I also want to limit the scope of this explanation. Obviously people write entire books about microscopy. The intention here (for now) is focused on onboarding a new developer to the point where they can make useful contributions to the code.
