Shortcut broken after update #589

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Create shortcut to a file on homescreen
2.Update the app (through Android Market)
3.

What is the expected output?
Shortout remains unchanged i.e. with the book cover as icon and book title as
title

What do you see instead?
Shortcut icon changed to the apk's icon, and the title becomes "Ebook Droid"
This may be a limitation of Android, but there should be an easy way to
regenerate the shortcut after app update

What version of the product are you using?

On what operating system?

What device are you using?

Please provide any additional information below.

What device, firmware version and launcher do you use?

BTW: Created shotcuts are managed by launcher and, possibly, Google Play
market.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (Android 4.1) with Samsung's own launcher.

I realize that this may be Android/launcher's limitation, but maybe it would be
nice to save a list of files for which shortcuts had been created, then with a
press of a button, all the shortcuts can be re-created on demand.

It should be Samsung's issue - stock android do not refresh shortcuts. We will
try to solve it somehow.
