I used this (https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/CM4-NANO-A) carrier board, and I had to solder a wire between 5v leg of the USB-A and GPIO 5V so that the USB-A could power the board, but apart from that works as my RPI3A+.
I just ordered from aliexpress another carrier board with a male USB-A, that I guess will work without any soldering... but I'll keep you posted.
Also, I think this can be closed. I broke my CM4 (those pins are very small) I cannot further test, and this board is to expensive to use, when an official dongle (motorola's or AAWireless) is cheaper than a proper CM4 with a carrier board...
Maybe this is a bit overkill, but just received yesterday a CM4 (4GB,Wifi, 8GB) and I wanted to test it, and I can confirm that it works as expected, so I just shared with you all the config file.
