Google App Engine Integration With AI #109

There should be a much more seamless process between developing in AI and
making cool things in Google App Engine. I would love to host all our companies
gadgets, widgets, and apps in Google App Engine but it seems too complicated.
When I changed the service location of TinyWebDB pointing to an App Engine App
from http to https it worked fine still. So security is already integrated it
seems.

I know how to use the drag and drop app creators like Widgetbox and even Google
Gadgets. What would be nice is if all that was packaged under Google App
Engine. My IT team is warning me that hosting the functionality on our severs
could cause some serious issues. This could bring more hosting business to App
Engine.

Maybe some of the more advanced functionality that people want in App Inventor
is produced and hosted in App Engine. Maybe there could be a version of App
Engine that is drag and drop so guys like me can make cool stuff that interacts
with other web apps and android apps. I really hope the community thinks this
is a great idea.

I would like to click a button on one of my Google Gadgets that says "Move To
App Engine" and then it allows me to access the gadget/widget/app etc. from AI.
That would be really awesome!

This is an interesting idea! To be honest, it is probably beyond the scope of
the App Inventor project at the moment, but I'm marking it as "noted" so that
we can come back to it at some point if it is feasible for us.

Maybe you could forward this to the Google Apps Team and the Google Gadgets
Team and spark a possible collaboration discussion. :)

Google App Engine seems like a much smarter way to to host data and apps. Even
media and images could be hosted here so the AI apps wouldn't be so dang large.
:)

Maybe you can support this option by having the AppEngine team develop a class
for the AppEngine api that communicates with TinyWebDB
