Location sensor doesn't get data from GPS

When using the location sensor block's the app does not seem to get the gps 
data from the gps. I've have the enabled block also set to true.
i have visibility to the sky. there is no icon for gps showing up in the 
notification area.

then when i open up mytracks app or maps, the icon for gps shows up. when 
recording data in my tracks and scrolling to bottom, the lat/lon numbers differ 
from this in my appinventor made app. (after waiting a minute that the 
satelites are found)
seems like the app is getting only lat/lon info from the cell info. Location 
"provider name" always states "network".

HTC legend with htc 2.2 android update.

appinventor used with windows7 and chrome.

gps doesn't stay active, here is a workaround, see the recommendations from Tom

also you can set provider name to gps if available...
