"TextToSpeech1.AfterSpeaking" don't work in ICS update. #2126

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Hello: On having updated my SG-SII to ICS, already there does not work
correctly the TTS, who was running without problems in the previous version
2.3.6, in an app that I have created.
I have created another application for test (attached file), with a button to
call the tts. From the block container " TextToSpeech1.AfterSpeaking ", the
result does not appear in the TextBox immediately, since it would be the
correct thing, but when touches again in the button of invocation the tts. As I
say, in the version previous to 4.0.3 (ICS) everything works correctly.(Pardon
for my bad english)

Just updated my Moto Razr to OTA ICS 4.0.4 and my app, DroidSpeak, is also not running the afterspeaking handler. Not sure how that could happen, seeing as that android is suppose to support previous os features, even if somewhat deprecated. I may be incorrect, but I don't believe that has been deprecated yet. Hope to hear some news! Thanks.

Hi all,

It would be helpful if I can get the source file (.zip) of the app that is
having this problem. Thanks!

The problem isn't with TextToSpeech. That's working fine. But it looks like
SpeechRecognier is returning null in ICS. We will investigate.

Malfur: Your program would not have worked anyway, because when you tell the
regonizer to GetText, you need to wait for the AfterGettingText event.

I did a little more checking with ICS (Android version 4.0.4) and it works.
I've attached a picture of the blocks and also the project source. By the
way, this was test with MIT release v126.

For people on this thread who are reporting problems, could you try the
attached test and see if it works, and say which version of ICS you are using.

Thanks
== Hal

It still doesn't seem to be working on my apps but it works perfectly on
the zip you sent. will there be a systemwide update to make it work?

Original comment by vtala...@gmail.com on 4 Jul 2012 at 8:18

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Just to clarify what I meant by that:
When I uploaded the source testTTS.zip, it worked perfectly.
When I tried one of my existing projects and loaded it onto my phone the
same way, it would not work.

Add another comment to the issue and include the source of your program and
say what you expect it to do, and what it actually does instead. And to be
clear, are you saying that this exact same program worked before you
upgraded to ICS?

what should be happening: when button is pressed, "this a test" voice is
heard. Then, a speech recognizer dialog should appear to get text

what is happening on 4.0.4: when button is pressed, "this a test" is heard.
speech recognizer does not pop up.

this app is working fine on 2.3

Ok so this is really strange. I was using my other account to check this
entire time. Basically, it works perfectly fine on my
vtalanki@gmail.comaccount but still has the problem on my other
account:

I have a problem for the "text to speech after speech". On a Mediacom 4.1.1 it
works, but in an Asus Padfone 4.0.4 it doesn't work (and I use the same apk)
