This form is only for reporting bugs in App Inventor. Do not use it for
reporting problems with connecting to the phone or opening the Blocks
Editor, getting help with programming, and so on. Use the forums for that.

For bugs:
Use this space to describe the issue in detail. Be sure to include:
- Steps to reproduce the problem.
- What happened. (Don't just say: "It didn't work.")

Set the Summary to a descriptive phrase, such as "Phone Call component
drops leading zeroes from numbers", not "App Inventor bug".

Attach any material you think would be relevant to diagnosing the problem,
such as:
- The source of your app: use "download to computer" to get the source zip
file
- A screen shot

Don't forget to mention which device you have, and which version of Android
is installed on it. (Find it under Home > Menu > Settings > About
phone.) Please also tell us what Operating System your computer is running
and what browser you were using to access App Inventor.
Also say which version of AppInventor you are running (at bottom right of
the designer window).

Hi

My family including grandfather went to the Scratch Booth at the Maker Faire
and got the download for appinventor.

I created an application for my grandfather Pet Kitty

My grandfather has an Android phone runs Android 2.3
He also has an Android device running 4.03

I completed a application but when trying to connect to devices, we see this
screen page and clicked OK.

Thank you for any help.

I am not a professional or a representative of the App-Inventor application,
but I believe I can help you.

When you are in the design editor, are you clicking the "Package for Phone"
button and the selecting "Download To Connected Phone"?
If so, you need to make sure that your grandfather's phone is connected to your
computer with a USB cable (This is the same as his charging cable), and that
USB Storage is turned on.
-When you connect the phone to the computer, a notification will show in the
status bar that says "USB Connected". Click on it and choose "Turn on USB
Storage".

If that does not work, choose "Download to Computer" instead. You might need to
wait a little bit, but then a pop up will show and ask you to save a file. Save
it to somewhere you can access it easily (like your desktop). Then have your
grandfather's phone connected to your computer in USB Storage mode, then copy
the file that was downloaded to the phone. Now turn OFF USB Storage, and
navigate to the Files application. (It may be named "My Files") Find the file
you copied over, and then run it. Doing so will install your application.

Also, the place that you posted this in is NOT for the issue that you are
having- it is for bugs, glitches, and suggestions. I believe that your problem
is from user error, and if either of my tips worked for you, then please move
this topic to the forums.

Hello Noah,

Did the post above mine solve the issue? Make sure your phone is plugged in and
set up properly.
