Blocks won't load in Blocks Editor for one project, loads fine for others. Downloaded zip file, get error when uploading. #2149

I am having trouble getting the blocks to load in the Blocks Editor. It gives
the error 'Blocks editor failed to load blocks to screen. Blocks will not save
if no changes are made. Back up the file before continuing' (I do not know the
exact wording of the error for reasons enumerated later, but this is the gist
of it). An error highlighted in red reading 'the blocks editor was not able to
load the project' also appeared at the top of the designer window.

I tried loading the blocks in IE9 and Firefox both on 2 different computers
running Windows 7 and was greeted with the same error each time.

Before the error occurred, the blocks loaded fine, although they tended to take
a while to appear. The blocks for other projects load fine and without
significant delay. It may be helpful to note that the project with the issue
has a large number of blocks (the file size is approx. 1.2 MB).

I tried finding a solution to this issue in the forums but was not able to find
anything helpful. I decided to try to download and reupload the source. I was
able to download and save the zip file but when I try to upload it back into
the inventor, an error highlighted in red reading 'Server error: could not
upload project. Please try again later' appears at the top of the designer
window after a minute or more. It is later and I have tried again and it still
doesn't work. I have tried to upload the project several time over a couple of
days since then and received the same error every time. This problem also
persists across computers and browsers.

I have attached the zip file that I downloaded. I am running version 125 of the
app inventor.

I have also been having issues for several days with Server errors when I try
to do either a checkpoint or a save as. I also get a server error if I
download a project and then try and re-upload it.

Hi All,

I'm experiencing the same problem ("Server error: could not upload project.
Please try again later!") for more than a week now. It seems to start happening
all at a sudden. The issue is set to "Bug", but any comment on this is really
appreciated. Thanx!

Regards,
Sjaak Bosman.

Hi All,

Sorry for posting twice (also in issue 2047) but I'm starting to get really
desperate here.

This seems to happen more often, but not always: "The Blocks Editor was not
able to load the blocks for the screen", especially with large projects (I know
this is a known issue, but as I said it doesn't happen always).

From the Java-console I copied this:

So please help to solve this problem or give a workaround or advise.

Many, many thanks!

Regards,
Sjaak

I have tried to manually fix the corrupted files but it is still not loading.
Forwarding to dev team.

PS: Sjaak, we are going to need more information about your project; please
open a different issue and attach your source file. thanks!

I am having the exact same problem as the OP, and there is an open block that
is causing a problem to be downloaded but I can't get in to fix it because I
get the exact same error message when trying to open it.
