I don't believe that Android supports GIF animation. We'll look into alternate
way to do this. In the meantime you can create your own anumation loops with a
list of images and a timer.

Someone said in another post somewhere that animated Gifs had started working
in a recent release.

Was this actually new hardware they assumed was the OS?
Or is this now implemented?

I'm new here, reading all the bugs and missing parts, and then seeing posts
where some of those now work. Can you mark the posts as "processed" or
something when they reach a state you aren't working on them anymore?

I've filed away several app ideas because it says they can't be done at this
time on this forum. (like all with horizontal screens.) It would suck to find
out the post was out of date.

Is there some way I could convert it to another format like a video or
something and get it to work?

I realise that its possible to swap sprite images with a timer to give simple
animation, but for more complex things thats far to resource heavy - please
please animated gif.

Allowing animated gif images would help create very impressive UI's. I realize
that it isn't natively supported, but stripping a gif layer by layer creates a
huge app, if it's even packageable after uploading all the images and running a
timer to create an animation. It may be asking a lot, but I know I would
greatly appreciate it, and so would many others i'm sure. Thanks for all the
great work guys, keep it up!

using HTML will not look professional . App Inventor should allow to run GIF .
