Why was zram removed from kernel 3.5.5?!?

in Device Drivers  --->
    [*] Staging drivers --->

I don't see "<*> Compressed RAM block device support"

Tried looking elsewhere and still can't find "<*> Compressed RAM block device
support"

Are you looking at the vanilla kernel or some distro kernel tree? I'm not sure
when it was first included in the kernel.

I had the same problem until I realized ZRAM depends on ZSMALLOC so the item
"Compressed RAM block device support" appears next to it in the list right
after enabling "Memory allocator for compressed pages" (ZSMALLOC).
